Scholarship and Award Opportunities for Graduate Students

This presentation provides a detailed overview of upcoming scholarships, awards and fellowships competitions for graduate students, and provides advice on writing a successful application. Eligibility criteria for major funding agencies will be reviewed, as well as application procedures and tips for putting together a strong application. A faculty member will provide an adjudicator’s perspective on the review process.

Presenters

Dr. Janice Eng – Janice is currently Associate Dean, Funding, in the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies and served for several years as UBC’s Health Research Advisor in the VP Research and International office. Janice is a Professor in the UBC Department of Physical Therapy and Canada Research Chair in Neurological Rehabilitation, and is affiliated with a number of research centres in Vancouver (the graduate program in neuroscience, the Brain Research Centre at UBC and the GF Strong Rehabilitation Centre).

Brendan Morey – Brendan is the Assistant Dean, Student Administration and Awards, in the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, with many years of experience overseeing scholarship competitions and collaborating with funding agencies across Canada.
