Keys to Flourishing in Grad School including Career Planning from the Start (PhD)

This interactive workshop, tailored to PhDs, will provide an overview of strategies to help you develop or enhance your academic plan to get off to a great start for flourishing in AND completing your graduate degree. We’ll discuss ways to explore the plethora of academic and professional opportunities to engage in while at UBC while providing space for asking questions. Ultimately, we’ll get you started on your road map for navigating your #UBCGradJourney and get you thinking about strategies for attaining your post-degree professional objectives.

Facilitators

Danielle Barkley, PhD, is a Career Educator who works with the Centre for Student Involvement and Careers to support graduate students at UBC. She completed her PhD in English literature at McGill University and has previous experience as a university instructor and writing consultant.

Jacqui Brinkman, MSc, is the Director of Graduate Student Professional Development at Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. Through this role, she works to improve the graduate student experience. Previously, she has managed postdoctoral and undergraduate programs in the Faculty of Medicine and was a lab-based researcher both within academia and industry. She completed her MSc in Biology at McGill University.
