12:30 – 2 pm     International Student Welcome

There’s lots to keep track of as an international student at UBC. Drawing from what you have learned in iPrep, our team of International Student Advisors will guide you through what you need to know about starting your program and how to unlock the benefits of your study permit, understand what you need to work in Canada, and make the best use of your health insurance plans. You’ll take away helpful tools that you can use in your first year and beyond.

2 – 2:30 pm        Break and arrival of domestic students
2:30 – 4:15 pm   Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies Welcome

During this session, there will be live welcome addresses, an overview of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, and an introduction to campus as well as resources and support for thriving in grad school at UBC. There will also be time for a Q&A session.
Join us to launch your #UBCGradJourney.

Main Mall, near W. Robert Wyman Plaza
4:15 – 6 pm       The Social’ Outdoor Fair

‘The Social’ is the perfect opportunity for incoming graduate students to meet, interact with and make new friends! Use this outdoor fair to network, enjoy live musicians performing and indulge in some snacks and outdoor activities.
This will be a great way to start your #GradJourney at UBC!

Accessibility:

If you have a disability or medical condition that may affect your full participation in our Welcome events in the Chan Centre, please email us or see UBC’s academic accommodation page to request assistance.

If you have mobility issues, book the accessibility shuttle to help you get to our event. The shuttle runs weekdays and can be booked here. This is likely to be a busy day on campus, and so we encourage individuals with accessibility needs to book in advance.

The Chan Centre can fully accommodate those with accessibility needs. An elevator allows access to the Chan Centre front entrance from Main Mall. The same elevator also connects to the Rose Garden parkade. Accessibility parking stalls are on level 5.

No scents make sense: Please refrain from wearing scented products to help prevent allergic reactions of other attendees.

We’ll post all PowerPoint presentations and materials after the Welcome event on GradStart Online.

COVID-19 Safety Reminders:

UBC currently does not require students, faculty and staff to wear non-medical masks but continues to recommend that masks be worn in indoor public spaces. However, activities in health settings on or off campus may require wearing a mask.

If you are feeling sick, stay at home. For more information on COVID-19 symptoms and the daily health assessment, click here https://bc.thrive.health.
