Before you can start working, you need to be eligible to work in Canada and get a Social Insurance Number (SIN) from Service Canada, a department of the Canadian government.
Service Canada will be on-campus to issue Social Insurance Numbers (SINs) on the spot exclusively for UBC Vancouver students in the Life Building (room 1501) on August 29 – 30 and September 3 – 5, 2024 from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm. This saves you a one-hour commute to the nearest Service Canada office and is faster than the current 10 business day processing time for online applications.
